I'm driving a 1995 Ford Aerostar, and the parking brake cable just snapped on me. No way I could find an exact replacement part so I had to add a new cable to the broken one. The problem was that there was way too much slack in the system. I tried to fix it by adding an adjuster from a local auto parts store, but that part turned out to be pretty flimsy and broke right away. A second attempt with another adjuster ended in failure as well so I decided to design my own heavy-duty part instead. Most of the other components were easy to find at Ace Hardware, except for those pesky adjusting wheel bushings - I had to use 123D Design to create them.
