Parietal Art in 3D: Engravings at Avencal I

sketchfab

3D models of three rock art panels from Avencal 1 are available, featuring engravings discovered by Piazza in 1966 and further documented by Rohr in 1971, Piazza and Prous in 1977, and Prous in 1994, with additional analysis provided by Riris and Corteletti in 2015. These rock art panels are located at an archaeological site adjacent to the Avencal waterfall in the Urubici area of Santa Catarina, Brazil's southern highlands. The site consists of a sandstone rock face featuring multiple engraved panels showcasing geometric shapes, human faces and figures, as well as zoomorphic designs. The engravings have been linked to the archaeological record of the Jê groups that once inhabited the region. Data was collected on August 7, 2016.
