The horizontal system features a drawer unit with a magnetic latch bolt and proximity sensor, housed in a separate rear maintenance compartment. The full drawer lid swivels on a hinge at the back of the drawer to activate these instruments for feedback to the controller. This complete drawer can be installed in a frame and wired at the back. A roller is included on top of the opening for each drawer, ensuring the lid closes fully when the drawer is pushed into the frame. The lid, made of 2mm plate, acts as a solid barrier. Recently, several updates have been made to enhance the design: a spring assist has been added for the lid, angled slots have been incorporated in the top roller housing for easy opening, a lower roller has been included to reduce load on the drawer slide mechanism, and a middle top roller has been added for expanding contents. A leaf spring ejects the drawer 30mm when the magnetic bolt is activated, providing a soft closure for drawers slammed closed. Components have been selected to increase reliability and reduce maintenance wear and tear. The proximity switch is non-contact, eliminating mechanical wear. Rollers only make contact in case of oversize parcels, reducing everyday wear. Magnetic bolts are held in their extended position by a spring, with the electric magnet only activated for specific actions. A vertical system alternative design features the same drawer unit mounted in a vertical rack. By swiveling adjacent units out of the way, access to even the smallest drawer is not an issue. This configuration eliminates cost and reliability issues associated with the horizontal system, while offering greater versatility. Examples include a 300mm wide x 150mm deep x 2000mm high unit for storing fishing rods or golf clubs, and an 800mm wide x 150mm deep x 1500mm high unit for accommodating paintings.
