<p>My Parasol hand crank broke. I opened it up and found that the metal piece had pretty much shattered.</p> <p>So, I grabbed my calipers and designed a replacement. Saved me around ~300€ from buying another expensive parasol!</p> <p>PLA is <em>not</em> strong enough for this application. I eventually tried ABS and it's been holding up just fine.</p> <p>The model is <a href="https://cad.onshape.com/documents/e8ecee9e3208f419ee4a8c05/w/806236f79b86b1014041260a/e/483f4044b8c4a91323ea291e">up on Onshape</a> if you need to make modifications.</p> <h3>Print instructions</h3><p>It's important to print on its side (see screenshot) to make the "pin" as strong as possible. Unfortunately this means supports are needed.</p>
