Paranthropus boisei resides in Olduvai Gorge, Tanzania. It lived approximately 1.8 million years ago. A detailed epoxy resin cast represents this fossil. The dimensions are substantial: length reaches 215 mm, width spans 157 mm, and height measures 117 mm. Cataloged as RLA no. 2501.1rp74 (cast), the fossil was discovered by Mary Leakey in 1959 and described by P. Tobias. This find marked a significant milestone in early hominid dating with its reliable chronometric assessment. The nearly complete cranium, known as "Zinj," showcases exceptional preservation. Cast by the Wenner-Gren Foundation's Casting Program at the University Museum of Pennsylvania, this fossil is part of the teaching collection at the Research Laboratories of Archaeology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
