People who appreciate garden planning will recognize a unique design concept in this planter system, where flexibility is key: not only can it be tailored to snugly fit a windowsill or similar narrow area, but also features a reservoir engineered specifically for effective watering by wicking. My primary aim was to achieve maximum root growth potential on any given narrow windowsill space. To execute the described concept as illustrated, simply feed something that has excellent moisture-wicking capabilities (cotton twine would be a perfect example) through the drainage holes located at the bottom of the upper compartment; then proceed with filling the aforementioned compartment to the brim with potting mix and plants of choice. Watering is straightforward: simply fill the lower reservoir to just below the designated overfill weep hole, which allows water to travel upward through a process called capillary action into the soil surrounding the plant roots.
