Parametric universal spool holder remix using R8-2RS bearigs
thingiverse
This is a custom version of rowokii's Parametric universal spool holder http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:767317 . It utilizes more common fractional hardware (1/2" rod) in the U.S. The bearings employed are R8-2RS 1-1/8" OD x 1/2" ID. Initially, I planned to obtain some 608 bearings and purchase an 8 mm threaded rod. However, I recalled having these bearings on hand from another project, so I decided to remix the spool holder to accommodate them. As a result, I was able to buy the threaded rod at my local hardware store instead of waiting for it to arrive in the mail. An additional benefit is that 1/2" rod is thicker (12.7 mm) and consequently stronger than 8 mm rod. This allows you to construct a longer spool holder capable of supporting numerous spools. Created with Customizer! http://www.thingiverse.com/apps/customizer/run?thing_id=767317 Instructions These were printed slightly overkill with 3 perimeters and 50% infill; however, you can easily get away with 2 perimeters and 20% infill. A layer height of 0.2 mm was used. It's essential to have a machine with a filament fan since there is a considerable gap to bridge (28.6mm or 1-1/8"). If your printer lacks these bridging capabilities, you may need to print it with support. These printed well without a raft on an unheated bed covered with painter's tape.
