Parametric Statically Balanced Flycutter This thing has been inspired by Blondihacks Statically Balanced Flycutter project. Similar to her project, this Flycutter has been statically balanced, however using OpenSCAD and the free version of 3D-Tool STL viewer. The 3D-Tool STLviewer calculates the volume of the STL (Information option of that tool) 1. Statically Balance Front/Back a) calculate volume of back part using drawBackHalfAssembly() and export STL b) calculate volume of front part using drawFrontHalfAssembly() and export STL loop step 1b) adjusting the value of hBalanceCutOffFront till volume of front part equals volume of back part 2. Statically Balance Left/Right a) calculate volume of right part using drawRightHalfAssembly() and export STL b) calculate volume of left part using drawLeftHalfAssembly() and export STL loop step 2b) adjusting the value of depthBalanceHole till volume of left part equals volume of right part Remarks: - I have machined the flycutter as one single piece out of diameter 60 mm round stock (steel) - For me this was the first time, to grind HSS tool bit. But the surface finish achieved with this tool bit is already amazing (see photo; aluminum, RPM 200).
