Parametric stand for my parametric bottle tray
thingiverse
This stand enables my parametric bottle trays to be stacked, although it could conceivably have other applications. It should work adequately with the customizer. The variables to input are the inside width, the inside length, the inside height, and how thick you'd like the walls to be. In addition to that, you need to decide where you would like the opening. The choices are "0" which would create a cage. That would make it challenging to access whatever is underneath but I've left this option available nonetheless. The other options are "1" which leaves an opening along the length (x axis), "2" which leaves an opening along one side (y axis), 3 which leaves openings along both sides (makes a "U" shape) and "4" which leaves openings at both ends. Primarily, measure the tray (or other object) that this is to be placed over, and add a couple of mm for clearance and use these as the inside dimensions, then decide where you want the opening to be. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Modified RepRapPro Mendel 3 Tricolour Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: Nozzle dia 0.5mm, layer height 0.3mm Infill: 20% Notes: This thing is a functional object and doesn't require to be aesthetically pleasing. I suggest using the fastest speed and largest layer height you can manage with in order to expedite the print time. How I Designed This The open scad file creates a base which is a "cube" with the length of the sides being the inside dimensions plus the wall thickness. This forms the top portion but of course it needs to be printed upside down. Then, sides are added depending on which option was chosen for an opening. To expedite printing and conserve filament, holes are added because it doesn't need to be solid. The number of holes and their position is calculated from the overall dimensions. The open scad file is reasonably well annotated and I've used lengthy but meaningful variable names. Feel free to tinker with it.
