Simple yet effective is the "Parametric Universal Spool Holder" designed by rowokii. This device gets the job done without unnecessary complexity. I took a different approach, swapping cylindrical cutouts for hyperbolic ones with an adjustable asymptotic angle. My main motivation was to hone my skills in crafting functions within openSCAD - a process that's notoriously cumbersome due to its awkward implementation. The number of cutouts and several other variables can be tailored to specific needs as outlined in the accompanying SCAD file.
