Parametric Space Truss
thingiverse
The flat truss module allows you to connect three trusses in the form of an equilateral triangle, resulting in a 3-dimensional truss structure. Imagine a triangular prism made up of two-dimensional truss structures. With this design, you can create various shapes from rectangular pieces, including boxes, tubes with different sides, and arches (with some assistance). In the OpenSCAD file, the space_truss() module uses a length, width (all three sides are the same), and rod diameter to generate a space truss. For larger trusses, you can multiply the formula for the number of segments by an integer or set segments equal to an integer and experiment. The default settings were chosen to suit an idea for replacing threaded rods in a RepRap Prusa with printed parts.
