Parametric Robot Wheel (Spiral)
thingiverse
A new version of a flexible parametric robot wheel with a "spiral" pattern for o-ring tires has been released. This update incorporates previous designs and adds more features. The link to the new version is http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:21486. It is a variation of the biohazard wheel code (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:21010) with adjustments made specifically for the spiral design. The open-source file allows modification of various properties such as tire size, wheel width, rim height, number of spokes, spoke width, spoke curvature, spoke direction, hub height/diameter, shaft size, set screw diameter/thickness, number of set screws, and fillets/chamfers. Alternatively, an STL for a specific o-ring size can be provided upon request. The wheel design is similar to tjhowse's "Parametric airless tire" (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:17514), but it was intended to be rigid rather than an airless tire. There are multiple wheel designs using the same foundation, including biohazard, circles, and spoked wheels with instructions for working with printed STLs and modifying parameters available at thingiverse.com/thing:21010. Further updates include combining tire styles, making code reusable, and adding support for multiple o-rings in wide wheels.
