Parametric Rift DK2 Lens Cup
thingiverse
Inspired by this project by marrr: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:499453 and my recent escapades with OpenSCAD, I decided to take a shot at crafting parametric lens cups for Oculus Rift DK2. Initially, I employed marrr's measurements from one of his images but they were slightly off, so I remeasured everything, resulting in a model that now fits correctly and requires few modifications to make it printable without supports. The model looks excellent when printed and should accommodate most users' IPD measurements. Since I only managed to print one final version cup after 10 iterations, I haven't yet put this design to the test. However, the model necessitates just two parameters: the IPD increase per eye equals your IPD minus 63.5, all divided by 2, and the lens cup height, measured from the mount plate to the top lens edge, which is equivalent to a 20mm 'A' lens and 17mm 'B' lens measurement or any value between 9mm and infinity if you know your exact eye sight measurements. Always consult http://www.vr-gear.com/ for software modification instructions. I have updated the script version: I have improved clip design for better printability at extreme heights, added grips for easier installation and added embossed lettering to mark the left and right cup. Note: this new script requires OpenSCAD's recent Dev Snapshot with experimental text module enabled; if you prefer not to deal with beta software, use version 2.
With this file you will be able to print Parametric Rift DK2 Lens Cup with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Parametric Rift DK2 Lens Cup.
