Parametric Project Box with IC Studs
thingiverse
This is a fully customizable project box that can be tailored to your specific needs. It's a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2507177, created by cudafox as an original design. I noticed some errors when using SCAD to create boxes in various sizes and corrected them. Additionally, I added options for IC studs and made the box easier to customize. You should be able to create a box that perfectly fits your project. The attached .stl file has interior dimensions of 50mm wide, 70mm long, and 30mm high. The wall thickness is 3mm, and it features IC studs with a center-to-center distance of 33mm wide and 43mm long. This design suits my relay board setup for my octoprint server. You can customize this box to your exact specifications using SCAD by simply modifying the variables, then rendering and exporting your own .stl file. You have the ability to change the following parameters: Length Width Height Wall Thickness Round Over of corners Box screw stud inside diameter Lid Reinforcement width and height Lid stud length and hole diameter Use of IC studs in the bottom of the box IC stud height IC stud Inside diameter IC stud outside diameter Width of IC studs center to center Length of IC studs center to center IC stud starting x location IC stud starting y location With this project box, you're no longer limited by available sizes or forced to wait for boxes to arrive in the mail. You can create exactly what you need and print it instantly. Revision 1 - April 8, 2019: - Corrected computation of ic_stud Id. It was previously hardcoded and now uses the global variable ic_stud_multiplier. - Made changes to lid generation to eliminate surfaces with zero thickness. - Added variables to allow you to generate just the box, just the lid, or both by changing the values of generate_box and generate_lid. This is helpful if you want to print the pieces one at a time.
