Parametric Pottery Wheels
thingiverse
This is a parametric design for a Pottery Wheel Head that can be used for Banding Wheels or any other Kind of Revolving Platform. A plastic version isn't durable enough for pottery, so I've used the 3D printed wheel as a pattern for sand casting of metal. In this case, I made the wheel from Aluminum to ensure its durability. For the CAD design, I utilized Python code to generate OpenSCAD code that can then output an STL file, allowing for precise control over the design parameters. The larger wheels are bigger than my printer can handle, so I have an option to print the wheel in pie segments which can be glued together seamlessly. I also have a core box model that serves as a crucial component to prevent metal shrinkage in the central hub when the wheel is being cast.
