Parametric planetary gear
thingiverse
I'm creating a script to design planetary gears or single gears. It's written in Lua for IceSL, which allows me to change the number of teeth and star wheels in real-time. The size is based on the module, with default settings set at M1, featuring 21 teeth for the sun and star wheels, and a 10mm width. The wheelbase of these wheels and the teeth of planetary gear are automatically calculated and displayed.\nThe quality of the gears is controlled by this script, and by default it's just preview quality, because the display works in real-time, while full details take a noticeable amount of time to update the display. Change this before exporting to STL or slicing. (If you look at the script, you can see that the gears are not made by extruding an involute gear but by a kind of virtual milling - this is why the display is slow in full details.)\nAnd then there are many other parameters you might or might not want to tweak - see the readme section inside of the script.\nHow I Designed This\nMade with IceSL.https://members.loria.fr/Sylvain.Lefebvre/icesl/\nRequired GPU:\n[tested] GeForce GTX 480 / 580 / 680 / 970 / Titan\n[tested] GeForce GT 555M\n[tested] Intel HD 4400, 4600\n[tested] AMD Radeon 290X (with limitations)
