Do you have a hole in a panel, desk or bookshelf that looks bare without a matching cover? Well finish it off with a custom-made cover that lets a power cord through while covering the hole. We use these to dress up holes in coroplast, acrylic, plywood, and other materials so they look professional. A matching grommet also prevents the cord or 3D printer filament from getting snagged. If you don't want to download and install OpenSCAD, simply customize your own using the built-in Customizer (available on this page). Instructions Modify the parameters as needed for the panel grommet. The OpenSCAD code creates parts that are designed to work together. Once you set the parameters and generate each part, the inside, outside and cover will fit seamlessly together. The customizer has variables divided into four sections: Panel Panel thickness (mm) Hole size (mm) Grommet Grommet wall thickness (mm) This is the overall thickness of the grommet wall. The two parts will print half of the stated thickness, combined to give the desired full thickness. Flange width (mm) Flange thickness (mm) Flange finish (chamfer or fillet) Hide threads on outside part This option shortens the inside part screw length by the flange thickness and narrows the outside part ID to the grommet ID. This should be avoided for very thin parts (less than 4 mm), as it may cause problems with thread fit. Cover Make hole (yes/no) Hole size (mm) Plug length, limited to overall thickness (mm) Plug wall thickness (mm) Advanced Just go with the defaults, but feel free to make adjustments if you like. However, changes here may produce unprintable parts. Thread pitch (mm) Thread height to pitch (percent) Note: a 50% setting gives a 2mm thread height on a 4mm pitch. Resolution Line segments used to create a circle. Higher numbers increase render time, which can exceed 30 minutes at the highest resolution. Chamfer angle (degrees) Angles shallower than 45 degrees may not print well. Fillet edge area (percent) Try to print at high resolutions (both Z-step and circle) but avoid excessive detail. This will help create a better fit and finish. This is version thirteen (v0.9.4), which includes the following fixes from the original version: Corrected inside part length Removed countersink on outside part for improved finish Hide exposed threads on outside part by narrowing flange hole to ID Widen hole when threads are not hidden Fixed variable name to ensure correct inside part length Added cover and fixed cover hole selection Cosmetic spelling changes
