Parametric Olympus reversible lens hood sized for 75-300
thingiverse
This is a revised version of http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:240706 with some additional features: It splits the bayonet flange from the inner end of the hood, allowing for an enlarged diameter for reversibility. There's a test mode (available in the .scad version) that prints just the bayonet for quick size checking. This design is slightly shorter, but this can be controlled by parameters. It's currently sized to fit perfectly on the Olympus m4/3 75-300mm lens, but it can likely be adapted to other Olympus variations. Pictures show a comparison with an aftermarket LH-61E hood. UPDATE The v4 files have been updated with some improvements. There's now a locking nub on the bayonet. This is still not perfect, so look for a v5 version, but the fit is snugger than before. There's also a "filter" mode that creates a flat rim instead of a hood, allowing you to glue on Baader AstroSolar film (I used this for the eclipse). Current files include: lens_hood4.scad: the parametric creator from OpenSCAD lens_hood4.stl: the rendered hood lens_hood4-filter.stl: the filter-mode version lens_hood4-ringonly.stl: just the bayonet ring for test fitting Print Settings: Printer: MonoPrice Select Mini Rafts: No Supports: No Notes: Print the test ring first to see if it fits.
