I've designed a versatile sifter assembly to facilitate precise particle size management as part of my master's research project. The OpenSCAD file is fully parametric, allowing users to customize the design and 3D print it according to their specific needs. Multiple STL files are provided for the ideal assembly size, featuring a primary ring diameter of 120mm. The assembly consists of four key components: a bucket for collecting and isolating materials, a sifter ring with interchangeable mesh or purchased options, a funnel for channeling material during vibration, and a lid to prevent fine particles from escaping. The printed sifter ring functions effectively and can be stacked and rotated multiple times to create different mesh sizes. To achieve precise micron-sized sifting, I integrated metal meshes into the assembly, which performed satisfactorily. I highly recommend printing the bucket, funnel, and lid first, then adding a customized mesh that meets specific needs. While printed meshes are viable options, they require meticulous bed leveling for consistency.
