Parametric Mobile, Sculpture Base
thingiverse
Create a rotating sculpture featuring balanced items by using the provided OpenScad file for a mobile base. Begin by measuring and inputting the weight (m1 and m2) of the lowest group of two objects into the scad template, ensuring proper sizing to avoid collisions. Set the length of the mobile's base in the file before printing. Assess balance and continue adding upper levels, following a bottom-up approach. Choose an appropriate density for PLA (ro = 1.320/1000) or ABS (ro = 1.08 /1000 for light objects, untested), depending on your materials. The Coin Mobile example requires printing two 1EUR frames and one 2EUR frame from a specified Thingiverse link, attaching coins, and connecting the frames to the mobile base. However, note that coins may not spin quickly; consider placing it near a door or window for air flow. Alternatively, attach hot glued paper wings to each frame or share other ideas for using foreign currency coins post-vacation. Showcase your own creations of spinning 3D objects using this mobile design.
