Parametric Miniature Gaming Movement Tray / Storage Tray
thingiverse
This is a parametric movement tray generator that lets users configure the tray for any size of base. I've created several movement trays on Thingiverse, and this OpenSCAD file allows me to generate trays with customized sizes without editing in Tinkercad. When you input the size of the base, the program automatically increases it by 5% to account for shrinkage and other factors. For a 25mm base, just enter 25. This generator also offers an option to use magnets, which I find helpful when storing or transporting miniatures. I like to place a round 20mm magnet in the hole and then glue a washer to the bottom of the mini so that it stays in the tray. This design makes these trays convenient for storage and transport. To use this generator, you need to have OpenSCAD installed on your computer. I've made some updates since initially posting this file. On January 11th, 2020, I added features allowing users to create trays with curved edges or square mini bases suitable for Warhammer Fantasy Battles players. Later, on January 23rd, 2020, I updated the generator to include rectangular bases ideal for cavalry units and made the thickness of the tray's bottom configurable. Most recently, on May 13th, 2020, I enhanced the generator by making the edge spacing independent for row and column sides. This modification allows users to generate trays with precise sizes without even spacing around the edges.
