Parametric Minecraft Ore Lamp
thingiverse
I made these lamps for my kids who are absolutely obsessed with Minecraft, so I wanted to create something that would really catch their eye. To get started, I researched several different designs but none of them met my requirements exactly, so I decided to write a custom OpenSCAD script from scratch. One thing that caught my attention was the way the holes on the front face were done - it seemed like an intriguing challenge and I thought it would be awesome if they could be easily swapped out. That's when I came up with the idea of using an array approach to define what's visible on each cube face. This design is totally scalable, and the script itself automatically calculates how big the holes should be based on the size of the cube you're printing. I printed these lamps in Prusa silver PLA at a layer height of 0.15mm with no supports needed. The pdf file that comes with it shows exactly how to connect the inside wiring to your Digispark ATtiny-85, and you can find the source code in the zip file as well.
