Parametric Mecanum Wheel

Parametric Mecanum Wheel

thingiverse

Boasting Zaggo's mecanum wheel design, this object was crafted in OpenSCAD for easy customization of dimensions. By default, it only varies in the lighter wheel hub and thicker rollers and roller brackets. The attachment mechanism between the wheel and motor/axle is still under development; it may be modified to accommodate a Futaba servo X-horn as an alternative. Due to Thingiverse's limitations on ancestry, borrowed elements are listed from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8443. The instructions for creating the wheel follow Zaggo's design. However, printing roller brackets requires extra care due to their 45-degree incline and thin walls; support materials may be necessary. Infill solidity should be set around 0.75 for a sturdy wheel. All .scad files must be downloaded for any modifications, as wheel.scad and roller.scad rely on them.
