Parametric Mecanum Wheel (EXPERIMENTAL)
thingiverse
Welcome to the Parametric Mecanum Wheel Repository, a project undertaken during the 2017-2018 FTC season Relic Recovery! Years of FTC competition revealed the inadequacies of store-bought mecanum wheels and inspired this project. Here you can find the designs I made and how I made them - documented in two SOLIDWORKS drawings and an excerpt from our Engineering Notebook. You are invited to make, copy, improve or learn from these designs. Some helpful notes: Both SOLIDWORKS designs can be simply reshaped to the dimensions of your choosing from the Equations-dialog. 'WheelV2' is the more "well-behaved" of the two designs and should be able to accommodate most dimensions it is given. Both designs might however require multiple rebuilds to fully generate. I'm still improving my skills in CAD and wish to create a more stable design. Be creative! The path I took in manufacturing these wheels might not be the best. The idea of printing the rollers with both TPU and PLA is an approach I would have loved to try hadn't it been for the lack of access to a multi-material printer and could provide better results for those willing to try.
With this file you will be able to print Parametric Mecanum Wheel (EXPERIMENTAL) with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Parametric Mecanum Wheel (EXPERIMENTAL).
