Parametric lower Z (motor) mounts for AO / MendelMax printers
thingiverse
I admire the AO-100 style motor mounts, yet faced challenges modifying their STL files for various tasks like experimenting with different rod sizes or adding a membrane to the rod mount screw holes. To make it simpler for myself, I redesigned the motor mount based on the AO concept. Although this is an entirely new design, I've released it under the GPL and appreciate Lulzbot's original design. While I've ensured that the height aligns with the original design to maintain compatibility with lead screws, I haven't replicated other measurements such as horizontal hole spacing or length of the motor mounting slots. Additionally, I removed the mechanical stop activator since I use a different type of Z limit switch. My testing has been limited so far, and I suggest verifying measurements before investing time in printing and using this design. Despite that, I've put effort into getting it right, and if you encounter issues or have suggestions, feel free to reach out for assistance. The scad source allows easy customization of rod diameters and spacing. It should also be relatively straightforward to adapt the design for NEMA23 motors or other modifications, though I didn't prioritize simplifying those changes. Note that this design requires OpenSCAD MCAD libraries (units & boxes), which should come with most recent OpenSCAD releases.
