Parametric Locking Connectors
thingiverse
These connectors join two parts by inserting the keyed piece into the slot on the other part until overlapping edges lock in place, ensuring a secure fit. By adjusting parameters such as x, y, and z dimensions, these connectors can be easily resized to suit specific requirements. Additionally, the dimensions of the key can be changed for enhanced strength or to prevent incompatible designs from connecting. The flush-fit version is available, where locking tabs are recessed into the part, and dimensions specified are maximum outer dimensions. However, this may result in a thinner bit reinforcing the key against twisting. Furthermore, the male connector has been rotated to eliminate impossible overhangs during printing. To resize the connectors, specify x, y, and z parameters as outer dimensions, while key_x, key_y, and key_z define the key's dimensions (excluding y_overlap for secure base attachment). Adjusting y_overlap can strengthen the connection under higher force. Please provide feedback if using these files, as testing is currently unavailable due to a lack of electronics for Prusa.
