Parametric Involute Bevel and Spur Gears
thingiverse
This OpenSCAD script offers modules for both Spur and Bevel Gears, featuring enhancements over previous gear scripts. It utilizes TheOtherRob's spur gear nomenclature code while generating involute teeth with its own code. The Bevel gear is an original creation. Thanks to elmom for improvements on the original script. Key upgrades include the addition of a Bevel gear module, backlash settings, adjustable facets for involute curves, and tooth generation to fix issues in the original script when mirroring half-teeth. The provided STLs serve as examples, not for direct use. The Parametric Involute Spur Gears require inputs such as number of teeth, circular pitch or diametral pitch, pressure angle, clearance, gear thickness, rim thickness, rim width, hub thickness, and bore diameter, among others. The Parametric Involute Profile Bevel (Conical) Gears need parameters like number of teeth, cone distance, face width, outside circular pitch, pressure angle, clearance, bore diameter, gear thickness, backlash, involute facets, and finish type. To mesh spur gears correctly, they must have the same circular pitch and pressure angle. The sum of their pitch radii should be the separation between their axes. Incorporate backlash for accurate meshing with printing inaccuracies. For Bevel gears, they must share cone distance, circular pitch, and pressure angle to mesh correctly. The example demonstrates calculating parameters for two gears based on a desired axis angle, sum of pitch angles.
