Parametric Herringbone Gear Set for Stepper Extruders

Parametric Herringbone Gear Set for Stepper Extruders

thingiverse

This OpenSCAD script generates a stepper motor gear set customized to your specifications. What sets it apart is that it's animated, taking advantage of OpenSCAD's animation feature. Although Thingiverse may not render the animation as a GIF, you can view an example at http://scribblej.com/wadesgears.gif. The script is compatible with the Parametric Tensioner (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6492) and Stepper Motor Mount (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6549). It's based on TheRuttmeister's herringbone gear set (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5795), with special thanks to the #reprap, #makerbot, and #makergearv2 communities, as well as GregFrost for his involute gears script. After running the script, it provides crucial information like gear radii and diameters, ensuring they fit within your 3D printer's build platform limits. It also calculates minimum and maximum drive shaft bolt lengths for compatibility with your tensioner. Lastly, it determines the distance between gear axels for motor mount design. The provided .STL files are designed for a MakerBot stepper motor 60mm away from the drive shaft and an M8 bolt-compatible drive gear used with the Parametric Wade's tensioner. Your feedback is appreciated!
