Parametric helical Darrieus vertical axis wind turbine - Mk2
thingiverse
An updated version of the vertical wind turbine design is now available, offering increased eco-friendliness through hollowed-out blades to save plastic. The M8 nut recesses have been added for coupling with a M8 threaded rod that serves as a bearing carrier and drive shaft to the generator. This design features STL files accompanied by instructions for assembly. To use, download the required Parametric NACA4 library (thing:12634 or condensed version thing:14179) and rename it to naca4.scad. Next, print a top and base section along with 2 + 3n atomic sections for maintaining constant torque. Stack the printed sections, inserting an M8 rod through the center axis and tightening with M8 nuts while rotating the top and base sections. Connect the blades using filament, gluing if desired. Secure the turbine to the rod by tightening additional M8 nuts, allowing for a free-standing turbine when short enough. Pair these turbines with deep cycle batteries to break free from carbon-intensive power companies.
