Customizable parametric Helical Darrieus turbineHelical Darrieus type turbines have several advantages compared to the standard H-type Darrieus with straight blades, namely: better starting behavior, two blades suffient for fully balanced run,ripple-free smooth operation, coiled wings have improved centrifugal strength, aesthetic and lightweight appearance. There are also downsidesmore sophisticated calculation and designmuch more complicated manufacturing Well, the disadvantages are not so serious when you have a tool like OpenSCAD and a 3D printer at your disposal. However, it should be mentioned that it is generally difficult to achieve a working Darrieus turbine scaled down to a model size that is printable with a standard FDM printer. There are reasons for this that I will explain in the following sections.I am not a purist. In my makes I also use traditional materials like spokes, screws and pipes, a drilling machine and ballbearings, and whatever I find useful for a project. Therefore, the focus of this post is on the proper wing design and I provide a simple version of spoke holders, which would be better if made from metal and optimized for aerodynamics. In my 2-blade model I used drillings through the rod instead. For a ready2print STL version of a 2 blader with 600 by 300 mm check my post https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6574421
