Parametric Heavy Duty Binocular Tripod Mount

thingiverse

No way to tripod mount your particular binoculars or telescope? This version is designed specifically for heavier binoculars that require extra support, but will still function perfectly with smaller, lightweight binoculars. To create a stable mounting system, simply take the measurements provided in the attached image and input them into the "barrel_diameter" and "arm_length" variables. Then, print out the design, attach a 1/4" 20 thread nut, and you're ready to go! Important Note: You may want to extend the "arm_length" slightly for aesthetic purposes. For optimal results, print in the default rotation to maximize shear strength. Print Settings: Printer Brand: Solidoodle Printer Model: Solidoodle 4 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .3mm Infill: Solid Additional Notes: You may or may not require supports for the hole where the nut will be placed, but generating supports can ensure the hole maintains its shape and allows the nut to fit snugly. Although printing without supports worked in this case, it's worth generating them to guarantee a secure fit.
