Parametric GCode Starter Kit
thingiverse
This series provides a quickstart guide to generating gcode from math using Python for parametric 3D prints. It begins with para_01.py, which prints a prism shape using three points and one layer. Next is para_02.py that incorporates trig functions to move from straight lines to circles, printing a cylinder. The advanced example in para_03.py allows the GCode object's cross-section to be rotated step by step. More advanced lessons with additional features will follow, as there are numerous possibilities with this technique. After downloading and running the scripts from your skeinforge directory, verify the results on skeinview before printing. To enhance interest, experiment with the math and customize cross sections for various patterns.
