Parametric FPV action cam damping system

Parametric FPV action cam damping system

cults3d

This is a full parametric system to eliminate all vibrations that arrive at the action cameras during the flight with a FPV drone. You can download a .f3d file openable and easily adjustable in Fusion 360 (uploaded STLs are for demonstration only). You can modify various parameters as you wish to adapt the model to your frame and zip-ties of the desired size. It is possible to install any type of action camera that has the classic gopro joint. The system is designed to be used mainly on FPV drones, but nothing prevents it from being installed on other devices as well (obviusly equipped with 4 screws). Two zip-ties are used as a vibration damping system which minimizes vibrations (that compromise video quality) and also dampen violent movements. The damping is also adjustable, in fact it essentially depends on the thickness and also on the length with which the zip-ties are tightened (the tighter and thicker the zip-tie, the stiffer the system). With light or naked cameras (<50 g) you can safely use very thin zip-ties (3mm or less), if you increase weight it is recommended to choose thicker types (4mm or more). This system was tested extensively in different configurations before being uploaded and one tip I recommend is to use relatively recent and flexible zip-ties. In fact, during some tests, I also used some zip-ties that were several years old and during the flight they broke after a few strong tugs. I hope it will interest you and can be useful.
