Parametric Filament Spool Mk2
thingiverse
This Thingiverse user recently posted an upgraded filament spool system with notable improvements. The second version of the filament spool system is completely printable without the need for any hardware. It can be printed on a Cupcake/ToM using just two .stl files and four prints, making it ideal for 1lb rolls of plastic. Despite being designed for 1lb rolls, the spool also works well with 5lb rolls as long as they are cut into smaller bundles to prevent moisture absorption. The system mounts on the side of a Cupcake (or likely ToM too) using friction-fit clips and features optional PTFE tubing for filament guidance. The removable spindle can be disassembled for storage, with a spring tensioner included in the design to prevent free-running. Parametric designs are almost fully customizable, allowing for different sized hubs and clips for various spool diameters and filament sizes. The OpenSCAD file requires Libs.scad from Thingiverse to function properly. Instructions for assembly and adjustment are provided with the design.
