Parametric door prop
pinshape
We have a Crate and Barrel media center with two doors that swing outward. Unfortunately, there's no ventilation, and I'm too laid back to drill holes in the back and install fans, so we prop open the doors with a stuffed animal. The problem is our baby loves to yank out the stuffed animal or worse, leans against the doors (which means pinched fingers). I designed a custom part in OpenSCAD that grabs onto each door and keeps it at a specific distance from the media center frame. I added holes to the posts so I could screw them in for extra support with #6-32 screws (that's all I had on hand in the garage). I left my measurements at home, so I was forced to guess. My angle estimate was off, so I couldn't install it as is. To fix this, I used a heat gun to melt the ABS and then slipped it into place before letting it cool down.
