Latest Update 4/19/24My goal with this design is a simple, easy to build machine. The X, Y, Z and Gantry clearance dimensions are all controlled by user parameters and both NEMA 23 and NEMA 34 stepper motors are supported. To keep the ballscrews tucked in as close to the frame as possible, FK/FF15 bearing blocks were used on the Y axis instead of the more common BK/BF bearings. X and Y linear rails and ball screws are 20mm with 15mm rails and 16mm ballscrew for the Z axis. Included is a separate complete Z axis assembly which utilizes 20mm rails and ballscrew and NEMA 34 stepper motor if that is preferred. As I've done with previous models, CAD files will be updated when corrections or improvements are made.4/19/24 Update V28 - Cleaned up some labels.4/14/23 Update V25 - Consolidated some sketches and increased gantry upright spacer thickness from 5/8" to 16mm so that extrusion lengths come out to whole numbers.3/5/23 Update V24 - On the 20mm rail Z assembly, the rails were moved in 3mm to facilitate installation/removal of the X plate without removing the rails. X and Y limit switch mounting points were changed to 1/2" threaded holes. The X limit switch bracket was made wider to provide clearance for the sensor cable. Earlier update notices were removed because the character limit for this text box was reached.
