KeyV2 is live now! This library has been deprecated, and an upgraded version is ready for download! Take a look at KeyV2 to see what's new. I almost completed creating a parametric novelty keycap base when I realized there aren't many basic keycaps available on Thingiverse. So, I took a detour to design one myself. This library has expanded rapidly and now allows users to generate keycaps in four different layouts, any length, or height desired! However, they're not drop-in replacements for existing keysets yet; instead, use them as sets, escape keys, WASD clusters, top rows, or bases for artisans. The library is heavily modified from Kekstee's original Skull keycap to refactor, remove dxf files, add a dish, parameterize, and incorporate a square keyswitch connector. Check it out: https://github.com/kekstee/3dprint Makerbot's customizer is great, but with spherical dishes, zooming in can be tricky, and performance is sluggish. For a smoother experience, use OpenSCAD. Additionally, this will open up new levels of customization! Some complexities prevent users from controlling dish depth, top skew, etc., within the key profiles; however, users can control these features by modifying settings inside OpenSCAD. The library includes many comments to help explain what each option does. Features: Multiple keycap profiles supported: DCS, SA, DSA, and G20. Cherry-style square key connector stem for easier printing. Circle, Alps-compatible keys are also available. Keycaps can now be printed with an inset stem, enabling lower-keyboard printing with the aid of supports. Supports different dish types affecting the top and bottom of the keytop; thus ensuring a uniform thickness throughout. Dishes expand to accommodate arbitrary-sized keycaps thanks to some trig math. Inverse dishes are available for spacebar or other unconventional keyboards. Keys can be arbitrarily wide or tall! Note that extra-large keycaps might require increased rounding on dishes. Stabilizer support is experimental at the moment but will receive more attention in the future.
