Parametric Cable joiner - Strain relief
thingiverse
This is a simple parametric cover and strain relief for joining cables, and prints without support material. Print two halves and simply use two zip ties to grip the cable at each end and protect the cable join. The cover can be customised with the parameters in the Fusion 360 file, including the cable diameter, inner cavity diameter and length of cover. There are also some more advanced tweaks such as wall thickness and tooth height adjust to change the grip on the cable. The default size (including the STL and STEP file) is for a 3.5mm diameter cable, and can cover a 24mm (approx 1 inch) gap in the outer cable sheathing. The STL file could simply be scaled for different cable sizes (and stretched in the slicer to make it longer) for basic adjustment but all the dimensions can be set in the Fusion 360 file. As is it is not really waterproof, it is best to use some heat shrink underneath if you want a sealed electrical connection. Also just a disclaimer, this is not an approved electrical design, just something I quickly whipped up in an hour to repair my headphones, use at your own discretion. I also made a short instructable on how to use it: https://www.instructables.com/Quick-Cable-Repair/
