Parametric airless tire
thingiverse
This design is inspired by Bridgestone's airless tire concept, as seen in this article: http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-12-bridgestone-airless-concept-tokyo.html. It utilizes the natural springiness of plastic to absorb shock and vibration like a pneumatic tire but is puncture-proof. Videos showcasing this design can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LctFwZhY1M and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXBgaaI7dHY. The design is fully parametric, allowing you to adjust values according to your specific needs. A tiny (0.001) offset between spirals has been added to fix an error encountered during STL export in OpenSCAD. To enhance traction, apply a zig-zag of hot glue around the circumference for better friction. Enjoy tweaking and printing!
