Parametric Adjustable Suction Cup Mount

This parametric suction cup mount is designed for auto windshields to hold cell phones or GPS units securely. It features an adjustable ball & socket style mounting arm to help you change the angle of the device as desired. The STL file provided in this project fits a Nokia Lumia 920 phone, but you can edit the SCAD file to customize it for any other gadget that will fit into a rectangular hole. To modify the dimensions, open RectangularHolder.scad and make necessary changes. It is recommended to print a small "test piece" to ensure the measurements are accurate. If you're using different suction cups than suggested, adjust and recreate the SCBase part accordingly. The Strong version of SCBase is preferable as it's designed for vertical printing, making it stronger under pressure. Print two Ball Holders, Two Ball Mounts, one SCBase, and a Rectangular Holder. For Ball Holders, choose between adding support material in the STL file or using your slicing software to add it automatically. Once printed, drill out the SC Base hole with a 3mm drill and the holes on the back of the rectangular holder with a 2.5mm or 3/32 drill. Clean up any support material and rough edges from Ball Holders, file down bumps on the ball part of Ball Mounts, and heat treat if discoloration occurs. Assemble the mount by attaching the two halves of the ball with an M3x20 screw and washers/nut, then attach the Rectangular Holder to the base of the Ball Mount using six M3x10 flat head screws. Make sure not to over-tighten and scratch your device's back. Secure suction cups into the three holes on the SCBase using a twisting motion. Attach the Ball Holders on either side of the ball and the Suction Cup Base (SCBase) together with an M3x16 screw, washers, and nut. Adjust the arm to your desired angle and tighten it down or leave it loose for further adjustments later. Finally, secure the second Ball Mount using an M3x25 screw, washer, and nut until the ball can barely move. Happy driving with your securely mounted device!
