Parameterized Open-X

Parameterized Open-X

thingiverse

This design features recreations of the PSU Open-X Re-design in openscad, with various parameters customizable by default. The angle from which the arm holds the bearings changes from 30 to 45 degrees, and adjustable height and shoulder parameters ensure proper bearing positioning. Non-default options allow generating the bracket as it was in the re-design or with new changes, such as a reduced radius on top of the bracket and a replaced slot with a screw hole. Additionally, this design includes an edit of the Open-X Carriage mk2, featuring alterations like the removal of one screw head recess for attaching an opto-endstop flag and the elimination of ribs and wade extruder holes. The interior is reinforced with a thick curved inner wall to maintain structural integrity. An extra module renders assembled parts alongside x bars and bearings, perfect for visualizing edits. Instructions are available in comments at the top of the openx.scad file, and assembly is similar to the original Open-X but includes two brackets instead of one. For more detailed instructions, refer to the RepRap wiki. The parts list includes 1 carriage, 1 arm, 2 brackets, M4-16 screws, nuts, washers, ball bearings, an X-Axis opto flag, and zip ties.
