Paracord Tensioner

Paracord Tensioner

thingiverse

I required a straightforward tensioner for Paracord that could handle substantial force without issue. This tensioner operates by twisting a portion of cord around the central section, then locking it into place with the notches at each end. The image speaks volumes about its functionality. I designed two prototypes to suit different applications. One model features openings on the same side for enhanced strength, while the other has openings on opposite sides for lighter or constantly shifting forces. This design aims to minimize the risk of the tensioner coming loose due to rolling in one direction or another. As I'm working with high and consistent forces, I haven't tested the second model yet. However, the first prototype appears to function effectively, having survived 8 prints and 24 hours of use under significant tension without warping. This was achieved while printing in Phoenix, AZ during June, a period of direct sunlight. Considering potential improvements, I might elongate the lock arms and curve the corners for better usability. Printing in white material could also help reduce temperature and minimize deformation risks.
