Paracord Melting (Whipping) Form - Melt neat and clean ends on paracord

prusaprinters

This simple device allows you to melt the end of a fresh cut piece of paracord without getting a knob of plastic on the end. I create many designs that have holes for paracord but I always struggle getting a “whipped” (melted) paracord end though a reasonable size hole. I've tried rolling the hot end with my fingers (and got burned) or other objects but it is frustrating, messy and leaves a nasty, ugly end on the cord. This small print has reliably worked to create neat and clean paracord ends.Instructions    1. Lay fresh cut paracord on one side of form with cut end about a inch past the funnel side of the form.    2. Place the other side of the form on top, make sure you orient the funnel side at the same end.     3. Melt the end of the paracord with a lighter, take care to not touch the flame to the cord to prevent ugly black charing, hold the blue part of the flame close to the end, but not touching.    4. Quickly set down the lighter and slowly pull the paracord through the form from the spool side. If you get a tiny wisp/strand/hair of plastic cut or pull it off with your fingers. You can apply a tiny bit of additional heat to neaten up the end if desired or if it feels scratchy.     5. EnjoyI've found that the nylon from the paracord does not stick much to PLA, I've thought about printing one in ASA but the PLA is working so well I might not.Use with: https://www.printables.com/model/926005-paracord-hookAlso, see: https://www.printables.com/model/924911-curtain-corner-tie-bracket
