Paraboloid OpenSCAD Script
thingiverse
A parabolic reflector is utilized in solar cookers, parabolic microphones, satellite dishes, and spotlights. This shape focuses parallel rays at a focus point, like sunlight, and can also make circular rays from that focus go parallel in one direction, useful for spotlights. It appears similar to the nose cone design of aircraft and model rockets. To create your own paraboloid, choose parameters including height (y), focus length (f), radius of focus area (rfa), center focus (fc), and fine structure (detail). For ideal results, print with support structure and slice with 3 perimeters, no top or bottom, and no infill. Experiment with covering the inner surface in reflective material or inserting a stick into the small opening on top.
