Parabolic Cross Tube UVC LED Covid Sterilizer Idea
thingiverse
The goal is to disinfect air intake tubes for respirators with a UVC LED at 275nm against Covid virus. A paraboloid module from Juergen Lochner is used to focus the UVC light in the tube. The UVC LED is placed on a PCB carrier in the focal point of the paraboloid. One possible UVC LED SMD 1313 datasheet is included, and another parabolic design for an SMD 3535 LED is being prepared. Tube diameter, wall thickness, etc., parameters can be adjusted in OpenSCAD files. The models have not been printed yet; this is just a presentation of the idea. Only UV-resistant filaments can be used. On March 25, 2020, an SMD3535 design was added. On March 30, 2020, additional ..R designs were added with smaller space for the PCB board and tubes for leading wires to the LED. The filament to be used is resistant to UVC rays, like the FluorX PVDF-1 from 3DXTech. On April 2nd, 2020, old files were deleted, and only the recommended ..R14 file was left active. The dimensions changed because the LED had to be cooled with a heat sink, like the one on Banggood. After that, work started on the PCB design. After completing the PCB design, the matched files .._8 were updated on April 11th, 2020. A PCB_LED picture was added, along with a matched heatsink from AliExpress. On April 26th, 2020, a doubled version of UVC LED was added, allowing for four cylinder sterilizing units to be possible by using the thing from Thingiverse.
