Paper Towel Holder - Compliant Mechanism
thingiverse
UPDATE (5/3/2021): [Corrected the scale of the screw-mounted version, added a chamfer to the edge to reduce the effect of possible elephants foot on the paper towel roll.] IMPORTANT: Tested at 40% cubic infill with PLA, it works well for me. Increase this if it is too flexible or if you are printing with a softer/lower-temp PLA. Decrease infill if it is too stiff. Each filament is a little different. Default Cura 0.16 settings otherwise. It is important when mounting to get a slight clamping force on the roll, so it resists spinning slightly. If you feel the need to add a rubber band, try mounting them 1-3 mm closer together. For those mounting with holes, they are oblong in order to allow for adjustment. This is a simple paper towel holder that you can print and mount to use without any extra work or assembly. No moving parts. Included in the download is a version for mounting tape and a version with adjustable screw holes for a #6 screw. For mounting: just use a roll to mark your mount points, or if you're using mounting tape, just stick it up with a roll between the parts so you know it spaced correctly.
