Paper printable bevel gears
thingiverse
Originally, this project involved creating printable patterns for various parts using 3D Studio and Tenkai (now Pepakura), which could be assembled into functional mechanical systems after printing on cardstock via an inkjet printer. One of these parts was a set of 45-degree bevel gears designed to change the direction of shaft rotation by 90 degrees. To create this item, follow these steps: first, print the image onto cardstock; second, cut out all the parts; and third, assemble them using techniques familiar to papercraft enthusiasts. If you wish, use metallic cardstock for a cool look. For added strength, consider using lollipop sticks as shafts, which can be tightly rolled and bonded with white glue. If there is interest, I may create a YouTube video with more detailed instructions.
