To save money and time on replacing plastic belts, create your own using kapton tape and paper. Begin by tracing the shape of a Makerbot-supplied ABP belt onto an A4 sheet for Cupcake models or larger paper for Thing-O-Matic models. Next, cover the traced area with 20mm wide kapton tape and cut out the shape. Finally, use the new kapton belt as you would a standard Makerbot belt. This alternative method may even provide better adhesion and less warping than plastic belts.
