PAPER CLAMP (aka BINDER CLIP)
prusaprinters
Hello you!I drew up a little binder clip also called paper clamp that makes use of a rubber band to clip in documents, notes, drawings and so on in your workshop, office or at home. The two parts of the clip are held together by one or several rubber bands - depending on what type you've got - and keep their position with little round indents that match on the front and rear part of the two clamp parts, no pins or machine screws required, super simple - very functional! I'm uploading two types, A and B, each containing three slightly different versions. Type Ais intended for printing on the short side of the clamp parts and will require a little bit of support material underneath the center axis of both parts. Suited for large amounts on one print bed. (labeled ‘support’ in folders) Type B requires no support material and is intended for printing with its large surface flat on to the print bed and is slightly altered in its design to accommodate for this. Better print bed adhesion. (labeled ‘flat’ in folders) type tldr → for 2 types of printing with/without support, minor differences advantages/disadvantages Versions (TYPE A/B):V1 (FULL) includes a little smiley cut out of the front clamp part and a little countersunk hole in the back for wall mounted use.V2 (NOFACE) has the smiley removed, suitable for wall mounted use.V3 (NOFACE_NOWALL) is for desktop use and has both holes for wall mounting removed.versions tldr → with/without a smiley face and/or hole for wall mounting. TypeVersionsmileyholeplainprint orientationA V1yesyesnovertical V2noyesnovertical V3nonoyesverticalB V1yesyesnohorizontal V2noyesnohorizontal V3nonoyeshorizontalhehe If all of this is too long for you to read or if you are unsure, perhaps starting out with 3D printing: print Type B!If in further doubt: print version with the smiley to improve general workshop atmosphere and happiness. Notes on printing:Both PLA and PET-G work just fine, I print with 3 outer perimeters, 30% grid Infill, 100% infill adds little print time but seems unnecessary for intended use.Type B allows for faster print times as it has less external perimeters.Type B has negligible movement (rotation) disadvantage due to shallow angles on center radius caused by stair-stepping. You could improve this using variable layer height but honestly, it's totally fine.If you choose to print Type B keep in mind you won't have fun removing them from the print bed if you choose to print with PET-G, I'd recommend the textured print plate, very satisfying print bed removal. All downloadable parts are correctly oriented for printing. Notes on assembly (all Types and Versions): You will require a rubber band. Notes on wall installation (Version 1 and 2, Type A/B):You will require:1x 5 or 6mm wall plug. (type may vary depending on your wall) 1x wood screw. (The chamfer on rear part will accept most 3.5 up to 5mm countersunk wood screws.)Installation:drill holeinsert plug (in to hole)attach paper clamp using wood screw guided through rear hole of rear clamp part. If you choose to pre-assemble (advisable) the paper clamp using rubber band you can guide your screw bit through the nose of the smiley face. ;-------------) miscellaneous notes because why not:The clamps are of course reasonably scalable for smaller or larger versions. If you'd like to make a wider Version and keep the hole diameter for wall mounting you could add the correct diameter hole by simple adding a cylinder modifier in prusaslicer. (My design for these is not parametric as I drew them up a while ago so please refrain from asking for original files.)TIP: You can combine the front clamp part of V3 with the rear of V2 to hide the screw when used for mounting on a wall.) I did not include g-codes because: have fun slicing and fine-tuning - to each their own! thanks! <3oh and last but not least: common rubber bands aren't UV resistant so don't hold me accountable for loss of important documents!
