Standing proudly before the Municipal Theatre in Bruges is a bronze statue of Papageno, a skilled bird-catcher who makes his living selling his feathered friends to the enigmatic Queen of the Night in Mozart's iconic Magic Flute opera. Carved into its base is an inscription that translates to "I am the bird catcher," an aria famously sung by Papageno himself in the Magic Flute, a masterpiece created by the renowned composer W.A. Mozart between 1756 and 1791.
